The Manufacturing Engineer's main responsibility is to plan, design, and support manufacturing processes in an industrial plant.  Maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.  Determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications
  • Create, implement, maintain, and improve capable production processes, methods, and sequences to achieve quality, throughput and cost targets.  This includes working with Production Associates to optimize productivity through efficient, ergonomic and safe workstation designs, man-machine interface and assembly line layouts for current and new products.
  • Lead the project management of new equipment including evaluation, design specification, selection, justification, acquisition, installation, proofing, and operation of manufacturing.  Environmental and energy considerations are part of this responsibility.  Participates in Simultaneous Engineering to assure manufacturability and cost effectiveness. 
  • May lead the development of Process FMEA’s, and other process documentation to help define and apply quality control standards and methods.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation as required by the various operating procedures such as Manufacturing Bill of Materials (BOM), Operator Work Instructions, Lockout/Tagout, and Manufacturing Process Documentation.
  • Develop and maintain production standards using work measurement techniques such as time / motion studies, work content studies, and line balancing.  Analyze production costs to identify and implement improvement efforts.
  • Work with Production Associates and Manufacturing Supervisors to identify, prioritize, and quickly resolve potential safety and ergonomic risks in the manufacturing process to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Execute the ISO-9000 Quality System through Control Plans, PPAP’s, Process Capability Studies, Statistical Process Controls, Gauging, and Testing Techniques.  Create new ISO compliant processes, procedures, and systems as corrective action or for continuous improvement.
  • Remain current in new manufacturing engineering technology, new manufacturing techniques and new equipment.  Recommend new approaches where feasible.
  • Train others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to implement changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to include but not limited to special projects, programs, and developmental activities.

Education / Experience:  Include relevant and required education, skills and experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, MS Excel and MS Word
Required Skills:  Skills that would be necessary for the individual in the position to achieve success
  • AutoCAD 2D tool design and layout
  • Experience with tube bending and/or other CNC processes
  • Experience with progressive stamping press/tooling/dies
  • Experience with gage design and use
  • Experience with hydraulic power operated systems
Desired Skills:  Additional Skills that would be helpful for the individual in the position to achieve success
  • CREO/Pro Engineering, 2D and 3D tool design
  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding
  • Experience with PLC programming, program design and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Robot programming, program design and troubleshooting
  • Training and use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Microsoft Project, Power Point
