We have a great Sales Engineer position with our best clients.  Our client is a 50+ year old industry leader in metal finishing, providing custom services for the Automotive Industry. They are well known for high quality, diverse service offerings (from metal finishes to anodizing, plating, adhesives/coatings, and paints), excellent process, and timely high-quality products.
 
The Sales Engineer plans, coordinates, and executes the marketing and selling of the company’s services in accordance with the company philosophy to maximize long-term profitability.  Identifies and closes opportunities and develops long-term partnerships. Represents the customer to the company by defining requirements, addressing issues, and pursuing new opportunities. Also, represents the company to the customer by presenting a professional image and conducting business to the highest standards.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Calls on purchasing agents, engineers, production personnel and executives who influence the decision to buy.
  • Conducts sales interviews. Plans in advance so that they will be informed. Presents material effectively. Handles objections.
  • Services customers and prospects. Must be on call to handle customer inquiries and questions. Must be able to provide information and technical assistance to the customer on company policy, product, process, delivery and prices.
  • Organizes time and effort for effective coverage of territory. Takes each account into perspective in terms of present sales and future sales value.
  • Works with customers to acquire vital and pertinent information.
  • Maintains daily communication with the Customer Care Department on business in their territory. Makes decisions and acts independently and in conjunction with Customer Service on such matters as price quotations, customer specifications, and delivery schedules.
  • Keeps informed of competitor’s policies, products, organization, and sales trends. Devises means to compete with them in their area of responsibility.
  • Gives proper attention to selling expense, staying within the established expense guidelines. Proposes new applications for company’s services and develops new business.
  • Stays in contact with Sales Leaders on significant business changes. Recommends policy changes in the interest of obtaining new business.
  • Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.

Education/Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years in sales/marketing role.
  • Previous experience in metal finishing, industrial coatings, and/or metal plating preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial sales/marketing preferred.
  • Proven sales track record.
  • Must be approachable and highly motivated with a very high aptitude for problem-solving and leading by example.
  • Must be creative, innovative, flexible, adaptable and highly organized.
  • Confidentiality is a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to travel by car with valid Driver’s License.
