We are partnered with a long-standing multi-billion dollar  client that is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan.   They are in search of a Procurement Category Specialist who be a driven self-starter, highly motivated and comfortable working with limited supervision while delivering results in a fast-paced environment. You have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and interact comfortably with colleagues and outside partners at all levels throughout the plant in multiple areas of the Supply Chain.
The Category specialist for Indirect Procurement, executes effective procurement strategies, from initial identification of procurement needs for indirect goods and services. Responsible for negotiating, coordinating, and assuring that assigned indirect spend categories and services are purchased at the lowest possible cost. Assesses near-term and long-term plans to establish that supplier priorities are balanced with business needs; consults with Sr. Management, and other subject matter experts to develop alternative solutions; advises on options, risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Responsible achieving agreed KPIs and targets by leveraging all possible sourcing levers
  • Execute agreed plan to develop and manage a sustainable global supplier base in support of Hyperion’s overall business strategy and financial objectives
  • Manage information collection and distribution within the assigned category
  • Conduct supply base evaluations for risks/opportunities, helping to develop new suppliers as needed.
  • Support the category manager in the selection process of global strategic suppliers
  • Prepare documentation for spend development in the category
  • Support the contract management process in the category
  • Conduct supplier audits to assess process and technical capabilities including overall compliance with Hyperion guidelines
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend action plans
  • Act as Supplier Account Manager for selected strategic/preferred suppliers
  • Monitor and report trends in supply market
  • Work with Product Management and Technical teams to evaluate/introduce new products/suppliers.
  • Assess and identify continuous improvement ideas for tools and processes
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering is required
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process technology and strong analytical skills
  • Strong administrative, analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Sound knowledge of and ability to apply business and purchasing principals
  • Computer skills -- working knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Microsoft Outlook
