We are searching for a Value Stream Manager (VSM) with a 50+ year old industry leader in metal finishing, providing custom services for the Consumer Products Industry. They are well known for high quality, diverse service offerings, excellent process, and timely high quality products. The VSM that will oversee a multi shift operation that is steadily growing in size. The Manager will be responsible for all the direct labor employees, focusing on quality to reduce scrap costs, increased performance, process, scheduling to meet client demands, and morale. The ideal candidate will be a change agent and will implement their Lean Experience to promote continuous improvement and implement a culture of Operational Excellence.
  • Manage production in a safe, environmentally conscience, cost effective manner so that customer requirements are met on a timely basis and the company assets are protected.  Minimize unanticipated events and communicate production information to/with the appropriate management levels.  Manage and administer policies and procedures for the Metal Finishing Department.
  • Manages the production operations of the plant, which includes the implementation and administration of production programs and schedules, safety initiatives, applicable product and quality improvement measures, and related areas.
  • Develops, analyzes and reviews a variety of production reports to improve costs, employee commitment, safety, production lines, quality, efficiency, cycle times, volumes, and implements changes as required.  
  • Supervises staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, providing compensation recommendations, and determining disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Monitor production operating data and monthly financial cost data.  Analyze information to minimize variances and improve profitability. 
  • Manages various activities among departments, such as maintenance, materials, and quality control to implement, monitor, and update operations, processes, equipment, and related areas. 
  • As a member of the manufacturing leadership team, develops appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with manufacturing practices, applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Supervise and develop the line supervisors.
  • Participate and support kaizen continuous improvement events involving personnel from cross-functional areas including Customer Service, Engineering, Finance and Supply chain. 
  • 10+ years manufacturing experience; metal finishing preferred
  • 5+ years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or applicable field is preferred.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office
