We are a global manufacturer and supplier of specialized packaging for consumer product industries that has been in business for over 50 years. We are a stable, growing organization with an immediate need for a Plant Manager.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for all the direct labor employees, focusing on performance, process, scheduling to meet client demands, morale, and budget responsibility.  We are seeking someone to lead the plant using Lean Methodologies to drive the success of the plant and instill a culture of Operational Excellence.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform general management duties, exercising usual authority concerning staff, performance appraisals, promotions and terminations. Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
  • Responsible for operational results. Drive execution of site improvement plans, help set operations improvement goals, ensure priorities and accountabilities are clear, provide resources and removes obstacles to ensure success. Set department operating strategy based on business needs.
  • Manage production in a safe, environmentally conscience, cost effective manner so that customer requirements are met on a timely basis and the company assets are protected.
  • Responsible for key operational measures within business unit (service, quality, productivity, cost, safety); able to measure performance of team against performance targets and provide feedback and strategy for continuous improvement.
  • Develops, analyzes and reviews a variety of production reports to improve costs, employee commitment, safety, production lines, quality, efficiency, cycle times, volumes, and implements changes as required.
  • Collaborate with other functional areas to resolve problems and develop improved manufacturing processes. Make efforts to reduce manufacturing waste and process complexity.
  • Maintain quality control processes to ensure products/services meet quality control standards; lead implementation of process improvements. Drive improvement strategies in all key metric areas; manage production flow, staffing schedule and resources to budget and plan.
  • Facilitate kaizen continuous improvement events involving personnel from cross-functional areas including customer service, engineering, finance and supply chain.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred)
  • 8-20+ years manufacturing experience; with at least 5 years in supervision/management.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel and spend the week in Watertown, CT. on a regular schedule that is determined by yourself and upper management.
  • Demonstrated success in continuous improvement activities and Lean concepts including standard work, value stream maps, 5S, etc.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing a safe & environmentally sound workplace
  • Lean concepts; Preventative Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, and Total Productive Maintenance
  • Experience planning and executing variable, fixed, and capital maintenance budgets
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills with an ability to openly convey information to team members in a timely, concise manner.
