We have been retained to fill a Plant Manager position in Minneapolis, Minnesota area  with production that is in excess of $15M annually.  Our client is a 50+ year old industry leader in metal finishing, providing custom services for industries that include Automation, Aerospace, Recreational Boating and Consumer Products industries. They are well known for high quality, diverse service offerings (from metal finishes to anodizing, plating, adhesives/coatings, and paints), excellent process, and timely high quality products. This brand-new facility will require a Plant Manager that will oversee a 3-shift operation with over 100 employees that is steadily growing in size. The Manager will be responsible for all of the direct and indirect employees, focusing on performance, process, scheduling to meet client demands, morale, and budget responsibility (pricing structure as it relates to equipment/profit/labor). We are seeking someone with experience in LEAN and continuous improvement, to continue to improve plant operations.

 

Responsibilities:

 
  • Prepares divisional plans – Annual Business Plan and Budget, and other plans as required.
  • Ensures a high level of performance is maintained based on company objectives, customer service, efficiency, scrap, labor costs, machine downtime, housekeeping, procedures/systems, etc.
  • Reviews and adjusts the organization to assure the resources are allocated for both daily performance and long-term success.
  • Manages all operations functions through managers, supervisors, and team leaders.
  • Provides leadership to all Division employees, promoting the mission and values of the company.
  • Assures that customer requirements are met, corporate policy is followed, and action plans are completed on time and within budget. Meets or exceeds goals for the year.
  • Assists in the long-term development of employees to ensure the company has an ample supply of candidates for future growth opportunities.
  • Tracks salary employee adherence to Business Plans, Performance Standards, and Individual Development Plans.
  • Plans and adjusts labor and other resources as necessary to maintain flexibility in response to customer needs.
  • Assures that schedules for work for all process lines are in accordance with facility capabilities, customer requirements, economic performance and long range planning, expediting as required.
  • Works with Sales Manager to ensure customer requirements are met and complaints are resolved in a timely manner, visiting customers as required.
  • Ensures all employees maintain quality levels required by our customers and Quality System standards.
  • Sets up and makes sure all operations records are properly maintained and reviewed.
  • Maintains an extremely clean facility and makes sure equipment maintenance is acceptable.
  • Works on companywide improvement projects as assigned.
  • Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required (Engineering – Mechanical, Business, Operations)
  • 8 -10+ years of Management Experience, with progressive levels of responsibility in a plant/manufacturing setting. Experience overseeing multiple shifts, and leading larger teams is strongly preferred.
